UD Gwen Stefani Palette Review

The exclusive, much anticipated, Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette is finally here! Feast your eyes. It's even more fabulous in person and so appropriate for any look or occasion. I'm particularly pleased with how well the colors are for staying up to trend with this holiday season; the timing couldn't have been better. Urban Decay always wins.
This palette is packed with 15 handpicked, limited edition shades, by Gwen Stefani. I know this palette looks like more mattes, but 10 of the shadows are still shimmery finishes. The 5 matte shadows (Punk, Anaheim, Stark, Zone, and Blackout), are just as buttery and smooth as you could expect from Urban Decay.

At first glance you may assume this palette "looks just like any other Naked palette with some color" - because that's what I thought at first too. It really takes starting to play around with this palette that you realize how amazing and versatile all the colors truly are. Check out a closer view of the eye shadows, but no pictures really do them justice!
 Blonde - iridescent pink satin
Bathwater - yellow gold, white pearl
Skimp - skin tone, nude shimmery satin
Steady - rosey gold shimmery satin
Punk - burgundy brown matte
Baby - pinky rose (lighter than Steady) metallic
Anaheim - light, cool-tone matte brown
Stark - nude, flesh-toned matte
Zone - warm brown matte
Serious - steely, grey with slight shimmer
Pop - pink iridescent sparkle
Harajuku - blue-toned pink with mico grey & white glitter
Danger - shimmery, intense royal blue with metallic finish
1987 - a true, yellow gold metallic
Blackout - UD's classic velvety, blackest-black matte

The packaging is sturdy and very sleek, but light to hold. Urban Decay's Pigment Infusion System is pretty impressive, giving the very shimmery shades all day staying power; and the mattes have the blend-ability of butter! I'd recommend this to newbies or makeup hoarders! It has all of your basic, and not so typical, essentials as well as your fun shades.

What are your thoughts?! Is this on your Christmas list or a skip?

xo, Katie

  2. Oooo...I've been seeing quite a bit of hype around and on this palette but at a glance and after reading and watching some reviews I definitely wouldn't give this one a second look. It's not for me, too many shades that are so similar and too many normal looking neutrals to me! Gwen's make up is primarily quite neutral on the eyes though! I totally would love the spectrum palette though! :p
